I remember waking up on the train to Shibuya. People were paying attention to literally anything else other than their surroundings. There were a lot of advertisements. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many compacted into one small section, until that day. The lady on the announcement sounded as though she hated her life, like the mere thought of it was displeasing. It was a disheartening trip, in more ways than one.
There I was, sitting quietly in the school uniform; the only clothes I had. My hair got messy because I was napping. I had to fix that, or at least make myself seem presentable.
